The role of the finance committee is primarily to provide financial oversight for the organization. This includes budgeting and financial planning, financial reporting, and the creation and monitoring of internal controls and accountability policies.

Under the leadership of VIA’s Treasurer, the Finance Committee meets monthly and is responsible for monitoring and communicating to the board about the organization’s overall financial health. Duties include:


  • The development of VIA’s budgeting and financial planning,
  • The creation of VIA’s internal controls,
  • The preparation and distribution to the Board of Directors of timely, accurate, and user-friendly financial reports, and
  • The implementation of safeguards to protect the organization’s assets.
