Contest Rules and Judging Criteria

The following outlines the rules of the VIA Star Contest and the Judging Criteria.

  1. Teams must consist of between no fewer than three (3)) and no more than five (5) student members.
  2. Student Team members must attend the same school.
  3. Teacher coaches cannot represent more than two (2) teams unless VIA STAR is an in-class assignment that students must complete as part of the class curriculum.  Please contact the VIA Office to advise of in-class projects so that multiple teams will be able to register.
  4. Primary Teacher coaches must be school representatives. Secondary assistance is encouraged.
  5. Each member of the Student Team must participate in the final presentation.
  6. Student Teams must meet (or contact electronically) with the Business Partner at least two (2) times to discuss the project.
  7. The Valley Industrial Association (VIA) reserves the right to make changes, deletions or additions to the Contest Rules at any time.
  8. Winning teams will be asked to showcase their project at the Tuesday, November 18, 2008 VIA luncheon meeting at the Hyatt Valencia.
  9. A contest Awards Program will be held on Monday, November 10th, 6:00 p.m. at the Embassy Suites in Valencia.
